Rediscover America.  All of America, not just the extreme left or right.  The common sense supermajority.  More than 98 million of us, divided in two, and hidden inside either red or blue media silos.  Feeling like we don’t belong.  Like we’re politically homeless.

Now we are discovering each other.  We growing our own community, with a media ecosystem that connects us.  

IN THIS TOGETHER is leaders and citizens.  Journalists and commentators.  Investors, donors, business and social cause leaders.  Conservatives, progressives, capitalists, and activists.  Moms, dads, church-goers, veterans, yoga teachers, scout leaders, service club members, across all demographics, connecting across all our divides.   Some of us vote for Republicans, some for Democrats.  But we all register Decline-to-Hate. 

Americans may seem hopelessly divided. 

But for the vast majority, it’s not true. 

We’re like cast members in a made-for-media reality show – today’s partisan media use fear and anger to keep us inside our assigned political party or cable news cubicle.

Sure, red and blue Americans have our differences.  But whichever way we lean, 7-in-10 Americans have enough practical common sense to hear and learn from each other – when given the chance.  For over two centuries, we have debated, argued, and resolved our differences.  It hasn’t always been pretty, but we’ve consistently put our whole community ahead of any political party or rigid ideology. Yet today, the voices of the sensible 70% are rarely heard.  Why not?

Until recently, no major cable or digital channel competed to give voice or choice to America’s middle 70%.  Instead, they amplified extremists, feeding conservatives the most arrogant left-wing insults to push them further right, and liberals the most hateful right-wing bigotries to push them further left. 

Few intended to foment culture war or destroy liberal democracy.  That is just an unfortunate side effect.  The combination of big data and digital media has turned political polarization from a dark art to a nearly exact science.  Anger-tainment and hate-baiting are just too profitable for political and media power brokers to resist.  By dividing Americans in two, they can manage our $4.5 trillion federal budget, and auction it off in pieces to interest groups, while keeping at least $30 billion a year for themselves.
